Microsoft Unveils New Linux Hate Site

Microsoft has finally killed off it's old anti-Linux "Get the facts" website that had been spreading lies about Linux for years. However, don't think that anything has changed, the site is being replaced with another, more insidious site called "Windows Server Compare." Take a look.Obviously, Microsoft now perceives Linux as a real threat to their business, as they are spending so much money and resources in telling the public that Windows is better than Linux. A few years ago, Microsoft didn't bother comparing it's services to Linux, but now.....

M$ should feel threatened by both Linux and Mac OS. The two are slowly creeaping up in the market and for many of us offer a superior product. I ran Linux for quite sometime. However now have no real need for it since I feel I have all the power of Linux with a bunch of added nicities with my Mac. Both great OS's though... and M$ left the door open by writing off such small markets as junk. Especially in the case of Linux, they basically scoffed at open source as well as the idea that anything with so little funding could compete with such a giant.

Yes, the Mac is actually a great platform, partly because it's based on Linux. In fact, the only reason I don't use it is because it's not free! But with the release of KDE4 at the end of this year the Linux user interface should get spruced up beyond the Mac or Vista.

M$ has really left off fighting Linux for a long time, let's hope they are really too late. So far, though, they seem to be quite successful at breaking up the Linux community, especially through their latest deal with Novell. But then again, with major PC companies like Dell, HP and Lenovo (aka IBM) shipping computers with Linux now....

IBM is a huge open source component as are several other large companies. Linux has a larger following than many might realize. Mention the name Windows based RTOS and people either laugh or threaten to quit!!! Mention RTLinux or VxWorks and people ask when they should start.

Intel seems to be contributing a lot to the open source community recently - good for them! And with AMD/ATI releasing their driver specs recently Linux has gained another triumph.

Linux really is gathering people - company by company - eventually Microsoft had to take notice of them.
